Poker Strategy: Keep It Simple

When starting to play Poker you will first begin with low-limit games. Beating these games does not mean you have to become a masterful Poker player, it simply means that you have to be able to beat poor opponents. Outplaying good players at high limits can really be difficult. It requires that you know many complex moves. Winning at low limits, however, is pretty easy and straightforward.

What the hell am i talking about? Well, just so you know other Poker players will not mind whatever you are doing, they simply have their attention focused in their own cards. They will play their hand the way they always play their hand before, regardless of whether you or not you are in the pot. You are basically a ghost to them. Hopefully, if you are a promising player, a ghost that will take away all their money without them realizing it.

Beating these types of players requires that you simply need to engage in a game where the play is straightforward so the possibility of winning in the long run is a sure shot. For instance, in this type of game, you have to play tight, don't do any fancy bluffs, bet aggressively when you probably have the best hand, and utilize pot odds for your drawing decisions.

Slowplaying works when it comes to deceiving these players. These players can be easily fooled into thinking they have the best hand when they hit a pair on the turn, so giving them a free card when you hold the stone nuts will be able to work to your advantage. In this context, bluffing is simply an exercise of futility or uselessness. These guys are dying to see if they have the best hand. They will pay to see your cards just so they can see them sometimes! Do not expect to scare any fish at lower limits with an extra $2 bet.

It is very important to master the art of choosing starting hands, employing pot odds, and aggressively betting your winning hands. Psychological strategies, however, are generally useless. Your opponents are not thinking too deeply, and attempting any fancy plays will only hurt you, aside from the fact that you will never really know what really runs in their minds.

Keeping it simple, in this stage will ensure you a sure spot in the Poker community. Aside from this strategy, it will also help a lot if you join Poker Rooms and exchange ideas with your fellow players there. You can also read Poker Reviews to aid you in knowing which Poker Room will suit you.
