PLAY POKER FOR POVERTY

It's contradictory but yes, the Poker industry is urging people to play Poker so they can help those who do not have enough money to eat thrice a day.

When you come to think of it, Poker enthusiasts utilize huge amounts of money- When i say huge, i mean HUGE!- that can make a family living in poverty survive for a year. I know i do not have the right to judge their ways- since after all, that is their own money, but i just find it unsettling and unusual when the gambling industry participate in a charitable or causely event.

For instance, Absolute Poker, one of the world's fastest growing Online Poker sites had call for a charity Poker tournament last year to combat world hunger, poverty and disease as they say.

I know that the Poker industry, just like any other concerned industry, wants nothing but to help alleviate poverty, but the thing is,gambling itself makes some people poor since it lures people to easy money without working hard for anything.

Gambling like any other activity either has a good side or a bad side. It depends on the person doing the activity. Gambling, however, besides having two sides of the coin, is also addicting. Why will you quit playing Poker when it gives you the amount of money that will satisfy you? Most people quit their job, in place of playing Poker for a living.

Though Poker satisfies our monetary or financial needs, it impedes career and personal growth. Money is not everything, i am sure many know this. Playing Poker should not run your whole life and people who play Poker regularly should know when to quit so they can find a life wherein they will be satisfied even without the act of generating a large amount of money.

“When it comes to extreme poverty, too many people on this planet have been dealt a bad hand,” stated David Clainer, senior vice president for Absolute Poker. “We’re inviting poker players to help put an end to poverty through a fundraiser that’s both rewarding and fun.”

I never believed that poverty will end. Povery has long been a part of humanity. Poverty is sort of saying that no matter what humans do, there will always be inequality. Rich or poor, ugly or beautiful and lucky or unlucky.

It is dumb to say that by playing Poker poverty will end because in the first place, gambling itself contributes to poverty and inequality. Am i right or am i right? Laugh out loud!

Despite all the unpleasant qualities of Poker, i still appreciate its art. Playing Poker requires skill. Since their is inequality not everyone has the right skill to be a Poker champion or good Poker player. And just like any hardworking player, Poker players who have had hard years in playing Poker deserves the right to be respected and be called a champion.

It is important that we excel in the stuff that we do. Sometimes that is all that matters. Excelling in playing Poker does not make a person bad, insensitive, or lazy to find a good and decent job, it only means that Poker players are human through and through who strive hard to make their place in relation to the world.
